Into the Void
Just a heads up that I have once again disappeared into the void of academia. I have two papers due in the next two days, and I am flying to Albany for the Race Matters to Feminism conference at the State University of New York. Saturday, I’ll be taking a train to New York City and just taking in the sights! While I’m at it, does anyone know any good vegan/vegetarian restaurants in NYC? Sights that I absolutely must look? I plan to check out Times Square, of course, along with the Empire State

Article 50 Cent: Evolution (Good Read)
He was already battle scarred when he arrived on the scene. But, last year, for the first time in half a decade, 50 Cent was truly tested. As he adjusts to a seat somewhere other than the top of the game, is the biggest, baddest, dude in rap singing another tune? It’s said that men are defined by adversity. And no one knows adversity like Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The Southside Jamaica, Queens, native lost his mom to murder at the tender age of eight, spent his teens dealing crack and

Glad I don’t have Plaxico on my Fantasy Roster . . .
Really, what. the. f*ck Plaxico? I have heard rumors swirling amidst the NFL and NBA that nearly 50% of the players carry weapons because they perceive themselves as “targets”. Well, that’s when you hire a badass body guard that will intimidate anyone in sight AND can legally carry a firearm. It’s the best of both worlds. But when you shoot yourself in the thigh at a New York nightclub attempting to disarm yourself, something is wrong. Chance are that is a great sign that you SHOULDN’T have a

Stop by: Tree of Remembrance
Tomorrow night (Tuesday at 7 p.m.) there is a “Tree of Remembrance” ceremony at Albany City Hall. It’s an event to remember those who have been injured or killed by drunk drivers. And it’s a good reminder during the holiday season to not receive behind the wheel after drinking and to not let others drink and steer. The “tree” part of the ceremony is a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments with the names of victims of impaired drivers. Afterward, the tree will be on display at the Heritage Mall. T

Paterson “disturbed” by list of potential judges
Gov. David Paterson said today he is “disturbed’’ by the list of candidates sent to him by a screening panel to succeed Judith Kaye as the state’s chief judge when she steps down at the end of the year. He didn’t answer when asked what disturbed him about the list, but an aide said later the problem is that no women and only one non-white candidate is among the group he has to pick a successor from. State law calls for Paterson to pick one of the names submitted to him by a screening panel.

Not much Thanksgiving for Seattle fans
I wish everyone had a good Thanksgiving. My family and I enjoyed a few days off and were able to spend the holiday in Seattle with my brother. We had a great time - video games on HD TVs are loads of fun. He didn’t have Versus, so we followed the Civil War online and couldn’t believe our eyes. Congratulations are due to the Ducks on the win, which should propel them up to the Holiday Bowl. Congratulations are also due to West Albany for the win in the state semifinals. We’ll have lots more cove
